March 19 2026

寒い冬の間、部屋の中に閉じこもり、ほとんど動かず、外を歩くことも大変少なかった。つけがまわってきて、何かしないと死んでしまうよというような差し迫った状態になった。そこで始めたのが椅子からの立ち上がりと座り込みの簡易スクワット10回、それに片足立ちできるだけだった。ほんとに最低限のリハビリだが、やらないよりはまし。左足での片足立ちの進歩ぶりは将来有望に思えなくもない。

During the cold winter months, I was confined to my room, hardly moving, and walking outside was very rare. The bill came due, and I felt it was imminent that I would not survive if I didn't do something. So I began to do 10 simple squats, which consisted of getting up from a chair and sitting down, and standing on one leg. It was minimal rehabilitation, but it was better than doing nothing. The progress I have made in standing on one leg with my left leg is not discouraging.

ASOは今ではPADというようだ。PAD=Peripheral Artery Disease(末梢動脈疾患)。末梢とは心臓と頭以外のことで、腹部の大動脈は末梢になる。この病気は増えつつある。主には動脈硬化によるのだが、これは若年から発生する。運動選手でもない一般人はみな、対策が必要だ。

ASO is now called PAD, where PAD = Peripheral Artery Disease. Peripheral means outside of the heart and head, and so the abdominal aorta is peripheral. This disease is on the increase. It is mainly caused by atherosclerosis, which starts at a young age. All non-athletic people need to take precautions.
 

しかし、ウォーキングもきらい、テニスなんかもっと嫌いという場合、床の拭き掃除のほかに役立つのはバイブレーターかもしれない。これはASOについて調べるうちに行き当たったのだが、金沢大学医学部（訂正）医薬保健研究域保健学系の方々がバイブレーターを用いた知見を報告しており、有意な結果が得られたとしている。
But if you don't like walking, or even worse, tennis, then a vibrator may help, in addition to mopping the floor. I came across this while researching ASO, and researchers of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, Kanazawa University have reported findings using vibrators and found significant results.

世の中で表立った治療とされているのはステント留置とバイパス手術、それに運動と血液サラサラの薬だが、裏というか、目立たないエビデンスとしてバイブレーターの使用がある。このバイブレーターはきちんとした医療器具だろう。ただ、似たものとして大人のおもちゃもある。その健康のための意義をないがしろにしてはいけないということで、病院で説明を受ける前の悪あがきとして、歩けないためにバイブを多用している。ものはかつて女房が私にくれたもの。どこかからもらったものらしい。

The most popular treatments in the world are stenting, bypass surgery,  exercise, and blood-thinning medications, but there is behind-the-scenes, less obvious evidence of the use of vibrators. This vibrator should be a proper medical device. But there are adult toys that are similar, whose significance to health should not be neglected. And so, as a bad joke before the explanation given at the hospital, I use the vibrator a lot because I can't walk. The thing was once given to me by my wife. She got it from somewhere. 

我が足の惨状は、親指が白い、第2趾と第5趾も白い。白癬菌が生きて群がっているのか、死骸が溜まっている。その部分が堅いので壊疽みたいだが、石炭みたいな黒色ではないし、悪臭もしないし、全身状態も悪くない。趾のあたりに洗濯板が出現したのは懐かしい。足白癬は1度かかると厄介極まりない。

The devastation on my feet is that my thumb is white, as are my second and fifth toes. The ringworm fungus is alive and swarming, or it's a collection of dead bodies. The area is hard, so it looks like gangrene, but it is not black like coal, it does not stink, and the general body condition is not bad. I find the appearance of the washboard around my toes. Tinea pedis is extremely troublesome once you get it.

March 17 2026

今日は病院でASOの検査。両脚の動脈の状態を超音波のエコーで調べた。スーパー音波を当てて、その跳ね返り具合から動画を作り出す。付け根から足先まで2脚、1時間あまりかかったので疲れた。その後、脚の血管のCTスキャンもやった。これは造影剤を静注してよく映るようにしてするX線撮影。短時間で済むが動いてはいけないというちょっとした拷問付き。この拷問はMRIよりは楽。

Today I was at the hospital for an ASO exam. The arteries in both legs were checked with ultrasound echoes. The super sonic waves are applied and a video is produced from the bounce back. It took about an hour for two legs from the base to the toes, so I was awfully tired. After that, I also got a CT scan of the blood vessels in the legs. This is an x-ray scan in which a contrast agent is injected intravenously to make the image look better. It takes only a short time, but it comes with a little torture: you are not allowed to move. This torture is less severe than the MRI.


果たして1週間後に結果がどう出るか。全然期待できない。ステント留置2本もありえる。

We will see what the result will be in a week. I don't expect much at all. Two stents could be implanted.


つま先のキズは、第2趾は朝血が出たから潰瘍、第5趾は歩いて非常に痛かったからまだ死んでない、生きている。

The toes with scratches are still alive, the second toe would be an ulcer because it bled in the morning and the fifth toe is not dead yet because it was very painful to walk on.

March 13 2026

紹介された病院の若い皮膚科の医師は、こちらの趾の傷跡を見てすぐさま「壊疽(えそ)になっている」と言った。
The young dermatologist at the hospital to which I was referred looked at the scar on my toe and immediately said, "It's a gangrene."


「えーっ、えそー？うそー」
"Oh, yeah? gangrene? No way!" I thought.
 

と思ったが、 実際そうなのかもしれなかったから受け入れた。
And admitted what he said because it might possibly so.

 
2,3日後、その先生が紹介状を書いてくれた血管外科のある病院の先生は、「えそ」とは一言も言わず「かいよう」であると2回言った。
After a few days, I went to see a doctor at the hospital where vascular surgery is available. He said twice that it was "ulcer" without saying any word about "gangrene".
 

たしかに小指の外側の靴擦れのあとは色が黒くなっている。黒はえその色なのだが、紹介元の先生が言っていたそこまで黒くはない程度の黒さで、しかも、入浴後に色が薄くなったり触れると痛かったりするので、死んではいないようなのだ。
It is true that the color is black after the shoe scrape on the outside of the little toe. Black is the characteristic color of gangrene, but it is not as black as the doctor who referred me said it was, and besides, it does not seem to be dead because the color fades after bathing and it is painful to touch. It doesn't seem to be dead. 


2つ目の病院では傷の手当もしてくれた。ヨードチンキみたいだった。1つ目の病院では傷の手当はしてもらえなかった。 差が出た。
The second hospital also treated my wounds. It was like tincture of iodine; the first hospital did not treat my wounds. There was a difference.

 

今後も検査や手術が続く見込み。
Further tests and surgeries are expected to follow.
 

March 5 2026

昨日のクリニックでの診察の結果、別の病院の皮膚科にいくことになった。こちらの歩行困難を見咎めた看護師さんが足を見て「水虫だけじゃない、色が悪い、すぐに皮膚科に行ったほうがいい」として先生に報告、先生がたっぷり時間をかけて照会状を書いた。右足の下肢動脈硬化が左に移った。

As a result of yesterday's examination at the clinic, we decided my going to see a dermatologist at another hospital. The nurse, who blamed my difficulty in walking, looked at my foot and reported it to the doctor as "not only athlete's foot, but also bad color, he should go to a dermatologist immediately", and the doctor took plenty of time to write a letter of inquiry. The lower extremity arteriosclerosis in the right leg came to the left.

Febrary 16 2026  

腰がへなちょこになったのは、案外軽く克服した。25度ぐらい曲がった。このままではならずと思った。45度ぐらいの男の人や90度ぐらいまで曲がった女の人もそのへんを歩いているが、仲間に入りたくなかった。

I got over surprisingly easily the limp waist with a bend of about 25 degrees. I had thought I couldn't go on like this. There were a man with a 45-degree bend and a woman with a 90-degree bend walking around, but I didn't want to join them.

毎回椅子から立ち上がるときに、健常なときの体勢をめざして、意図的にぐっと腰を持ち上げてすっくと立つ--これを繰り返した。腰のあたりも本人はまだ存命だとわかったのか、治った。

Whenever I got up from my chair, I would intentionally lift my hips up and stand up straight, aiming for the healthy position I had been in. The hip area realized that the patient was still alive, and it finally healed.

足については、寒かったときに甘やかしたツケが回ってきて、90代の足になってしまった。1歩で10センチ程度しか進まない情けなさ。朝のごみ捨ては継続しているが、これが1大難事業になってきた。いつまでも足白癬が良くならず、患部に傷があって治らない、趾裏なので歩きにくい。

As for my legs, they are now in their 90's, the result of my pampering them when it was cold. I continue to take out the trash in the morning, but this has become a major challenge. My tinea pedis has not gotten better, I have a scar on the affected area that lingers.  It's hard to walk on such a sole.

マキロンを塗っている。オロナインもインデバンクリームも塗って、とうとう指に包帯も巻き始めた。

I'm applying Makilon. I also apply Oronine and Indeban cream, and finally started bandaging my toes.

結局、症状の合併がなければ耐えられるが、一度に来られると夜なら眠れないし、残虐な気分にまでなってしまう。
After all, I can tolerate it if there is no complication of symptoms, but if it comes at once, I can't sleep if it's at night and even feel brutalized.





 Febrary 8 2026  

ピリピリ、ジンジンという痛みは、消えてもすぐに復活する嫌なタイプの痛みだ。
Tingling, zinging pain is an unpleasant type of pain that sometimes disappears and then quickly returns.

これに効くのは長い間、エクササイズのみと考えてきたけれど、そうでもないんだということがほんの最近わかって、自分はちょっと間抜けだなと思っている。というのもピリピリ、ジンジンという神経痛はインドメタシンやロキソニンでも軽減することがわかったからだ。特に最近は動画を参考にしてエクササイズしても効かないことが多いから、この方面の知識変更ではたしてどうなるか楽しみだ。

For a long time, I thought that exercise was the only thing that could help with this, but I feel a bit stupid because I recently found out that it's not so bad. and that indomethacin and loxonin can also reduce tingling and zinging nerve pain. I'm looking forward to seeing how this change in knowledge will help me, especially since I've been doing a lot of exercises lately that don't work based on the videos.

qemuでlinux 2をインストールした。
I installed linux 2 with qemu.


ふと思い立ってqemuというエミュレーターを使って昔のDebian3をインストールしてみた。なんのことかわかる人はあまりいないと思うけど、何年も前のlinuxの話。昔はFM Townsでこれを使っていた。当時FujitsuのFM Townsは40万円もした。MacのOS 9クラムシェルのラップトップなんか25万円くらいだったから、足元にも及ばなかった。
I happened to think of installing old Debian3 using an emulator called qemu. Not many people know what I'm talking about,. I'm talking about linux many years ago. I used to use this on FM Towns. At that time, Fujitsu FM Towns cost 400,000 yen, which is not even close to
Mac OS 9 clamshell laptops, which cost 250,000 yen.


それはそれとして、なんとインストールにほぼ1日かかった。全部インストールしても2Gいかなかったが、時間は午前に始めて午後3時頃まで、半端なくかかった。まだGUIは起動していない。
As it was, it took almost a day to install the software. The whole installation was less than 2G, but it took half the time, starting in the morning and ending around 3PM. The GUI has not been activated yet.


腰をやられた。腰がめちゃめちゃに壊れた。まっすぐ立つことと引き換えにとんでもない痛みがやってくる。腰が曲がってしまうのを真っ直ぐにするまでに時間がかかる。
My lower back was hit and it got as if broken to pieces. A tremendous amount of pain comes in exchange for standing up straight. It takes a long time before I can straighten out my back bent over.


ただ、インドメタシン含有のバンテリンの液で、かなり良くなった。これが手元になかったらロキソニンも数少なくなっていたからやばかった。
However, I did much better with a solution of Banterin, which contains indomethacin. If I didn't have this on hand, it would have been worse because I had few Loxonin left. 

 

 Febrary 3 2026  

80になり節分になったら自分の内部で何かが変わったような気がする。ピリピリする痛みが急になくなった。白癬菌が撤退しつつある。冬は毎年うつになるが、それが晴れただけかもしれない。

When I turned 80 and the traditional end of winter day has come, I felt something changed inside me. The tingling pain is suddenly gone. The ringworm is withdrawing. I'm inclined to get depressed every winter, and maybe that's just clearing up.

 
January 29 2026  

足白癬は爪白癬へと進んでしまった。テルビナフィンを塗っているが、あまり効き目が見られない。やばいかもしれない。

Tinea pedis has progressed to tinea unguium. I am applying terbinafine, but it is not helping much. It might be bad.

テルビナフィンは5チャネルを見てもよく出てくる定番の水虫薬らしい。効いてくれるように祈るしかない。

Terbinafine seems to be the standard athlete's foot medicine that is often found in the 5 channel in Japan. I can only pray that it works.

白癬菌は冬になるまで趾の裏のあたりに潜んでいて、周囲が自分たちにとっての適温になってから一気に勢力を強めたらしい。湯音60度で1秒で死滅するらしいが、1秒間のやけどと引き換えになる。

I think that ringworm lurk around the backs of the toes until winter, and then it quickly gained strength when the surroundings became the right temperature for them. It is said that the hot water at 60 degrees Celsius kills the fungus in one second, in exchange for a one-second burn.




January 22 2026  

抗生剤はもちろん効き目があるし、副作用みたいな症状も見られず順調に菌をやっつけてくれていると思う。ただし、この菌は、腸内フローラの菌や大腸菌などの悪さをする菌のことであり、真菌には効かない。真菌には抗真菌薬を使う。

The antibiotic is working, of course, and I think it is killing the bacteria well without showing any side effect-like symptoms. However, they do not work on fungi. They work on bacteria, such as intestinal flora bacteria and E. coli. Fungus is treated with antifungal drugs.

 

抗生剤はつまり、足の見かけからして、水虫以外の菌も悪さをしている、壊疽予防用に必要だと見て、ドクターが処方した。水虫の方はテルビナフィン塩酸塩のクリームと滴下薬が対処している。この効き目はあまりないような気がする。それだけカビの菌が大量に住み着いているのだろうか。

The antibiotics were prescribed by the doctor because he saw that, by the looks of the foot, other bacteria besides athlete's foot fungus were also causing the problem and needed to be used to prevent gangrene. The athlete's foot is being treated with Terbinafine hydrochloride cream and drops. I don't think this works very well. Is that so because many fungi are living in the area?
 


クリニックでは、足を見せてと言われて靴下を脱ぎ、ラップをしたままのところを見せた。ラップねと言って笑っていた。ラップは便利なんですよと言っておいた。ただ、長く巻いていると足が痛くなる。これは密着により足の自由が奪われるからじゃなかろうか。

At the clinic, Doctor asked me to show him my feet, and I took off my socks and showed it to him with the wrap still on. He laughed and said, "A wrap, huh?" I told him wraps are useful. However, if you wrap your feet for a long time, your feet get sore. I think this is because the close contact takes away the freedom of the foot.

January 21 2026  

クリニックで12月の検査の結果について説明を受けた。糖尿病はテネリアを処方されていて毎朝呑んでいるが、HbA1cは6.3で、おまけでセーフだった。中性脂肪は非常に高い。ナッツでは下がらなくなった。果物を毎日食べているのがよくないらしい。

At the clinic I was briefed on the results of my December tests. For diabetes Teneria is prescribed, which I take every morning, and my HbA1c was 6.3, which is safe, a bonus. My triglycerides are very high. Nuts no longer bring them down. I eat fruit every day, which is not good.



みずむしについては壊疽にならないようにと警告された。テルビナフィンを瓶2本、クリームを3個もらった。抗生物質も処方された。

Dr warned me about the mites so that they would not turn into gangrene. I was given two bottles of Terbinafine and three creams. Antibiotics were also prescribed. 


クリニックは老人で混んでいる。診察まで1時間余り待たされた。我が家の運転手さんにはモンブランをねだられた。

The clinic was crowded with old people. I had to wait for more than an hour before I could see the doctor. My driver begged me for a Mont Blanc (chestnut and cream dessert).

 

January 20 2026  

ジュクジュクしている箇所は、白癬菌がケラチンを分解する活動の現場と思われるが、これまで要するに、怪我したような状態になっているのじゃないかと思い、避けてきた。しかし、思い切って痛いのを我慢して、その部分に水虫治療薬を擦り込んだ。すると案外効き目があって、あまりジュクジュクしなくなってきた。そのため3回薬を擦り込んだ。果たしてどうなるだろうか。

The jiggly area was thought to be the site of activity where the ringworm fungus was breaking down keratin, and I had avoided it, thinking that it was, in essence, an injured area. However, I took the plunge, managed to endure the pain, and rubbed athlete's foot treatment into the area. Surprisingly, it worked, and the area became less prickly. So I rubbed the medicine into the area three times. I wonder what would happen next.

January 19 2026  

今日は酢漬けはお休み。というのもちょっと濃かったせいか、足裏が奇妙に水っぽく感じられるようになり、歩くのも大変遅くなったから。酢対水1:3だったが明日はこれを倍にしてみるつもり。明後日にはクリニックでクリームがもらえる。

Took a break from pickling today, i.e., I didn't have a chance to try the vinegar soak. Cause a little too thick and my foot started to feel oddly watery, and walking became very slow. It was 1:3 vinegar to water, but I will try doubling it tomorrow. The day after tomorrow, I can get cream at the clinic.

昨日は横綱と大関が皆負けた。愛子さまの前で固くなったのかも。

Yesterday all the rikishi ranked yokozuna and ozeki lost. Maybe they got strained before Princess Aiko.

January 17 2026  

足の酢漬けを本日は2回行った。ヨーグルト菌はヤクルトのシロタ株のものが最強らしいが、ふつうのヨーグルトで効き目がなかったようだったのでやめにして、酢漬けにしている。これはなぜか気持ちがいい。特にポリ袋の中で足を動かしてチャップチャップの状態を醸し出すとなんだか効いているような気がしてくる。

I soaked the foot in vinegar twice today. I heard that Yakult's Shirota strain of yogurt bacteria is the strongest, but it didn't seem to work with regular yogurt, so I stopped using it and soaked them in vinegar. This feels good for some reason. Especially when I move my leg inside the plastic bag and create a state of chap-chap, I feel like it is working somehow.



良いのは足全体の血色が良くなること。神経のピリつきが減ったような気がすること。親指の爪を白くしてしまったのは大きなミスだったが、防ぎようがないミスだろう。

The good news is that the entire foot is more blood-colored. The nerve tingling seems to have decreased. I made the big mistake of whitening my thumb nail, but it would be a mistake that could not be prevented.
 

January 16 2026  

・みずむし 

趾間型の水虫に対して第2期目のじたばたを繰り返している。かかとの方ばかり重視して、指先の方の水虫を軽視していた。指の裏は見たことがない。医師も見たがらない。指で趾間を開けたりするとリスクが高くなる。

I'm in the second stage of floundering against athlete's foot of the interdigital type. I 've been only focused on the heel and neglected the athlete's foot on the tips of the toes. I have never seen the backs of the toes.  Doctors do not want to look at them either. Opening the space between the toes with the fingers increases the risk.



今もまだ患部を見ていない。位置的に見るのが難しいし、自撮りもあまりしたくないものだし。たぶん、ジュクジュクしている部分はジュクジュクしている。

I still haven't seen the affected area. It's difficult to see it in position, and it's something I don't really want to take a selfie of. Maybe the jiggly part is jiggly.



ヨーグルト漬けは昨日試した。NGかな。酢漬けは今日の午前に試した。これはちょっと反応があった。小さなポリ袋に3倍位に薄めた酢を適量入れて、足を突っ込み、絆創膏でもれないようにして20分くらいした。


Tried yogurt pickles yesterday. The vinegar pickle was tried this morning. This one had a bit of a reaction. I put in a small plastic bag a proper amount of vinegar diluted about three times, stuck my foot in it, and used an adhesive bandage to prevent leakage. For about 20 minutes.




酢漬けは酢を醸造する会社のホームページにも水虫に対する効用として載っているから、信用できる。あとは公園のひなたで靴の中敷きと足と靴の中を虫干しした。


Vinegar soaking is credible because it is listed as a benefit against athlete's foot on the website of the company that brews vinegar. I also dried the insoles of my shoes, my feet, and the inside of my shoes in the park's sunshine to dry out the bugs.
 

・イカ 

イカは嗅覚の鈍い自分にはあまり臭わないが、臭う人にはかなり強烈に臭うらしく、食べていて文句を言われることもある。しかし、菓子店だった我が家の店先に売り物として並べられていた「黄金裂きイカ」以来、イカ者食いを自認し、からだがイカでできているんじゃないかと思われるほど、これまでよく食べてきた。

Squid does not smell so bad to me, who has a dull sense of smell, but to those who do, it seems to be quite strong, and I sometimes get complaints while eating it. However, I have been a self-confessed squid-eater ever since I first saw the "golden cuttlefish" for sale in the front of my home, which used to be a candy store, and I have eaten squid so often that I think my body is made of squid.



ところが、日本で漁業をやる人が減ったりイカそのものの漁獲量が減ったりしたためか、次第に高級魚になってきて中国産であってもなかなか買い求めにくくなった。イカの燻製を指で裂いてけちけち食べる、裂けるチーズの食べ方がふさわしくなった。

However, as the number of fishermen in Japan has decreased and the catch of squid itself has dwindled, it has gradually become a luxury seafood, and even Chinese squid has become difficult to buy. Smoked squid is now suitable for eating like cheese that can be ripped open with one's fingers. 



イカに含まれているタウリンというアミノ酸は、肝機能の改善や血液サラサラ化、中性脂肪減少などの効果があり、自分にはとても良い食品だったのに、ここに来ての高級化により、私は毎日泣いて過ごしている。こうした時代の変化は、あまり受け入れたくない変化のうちの一つである。
 

The amino acid taurine in squid, which improves liver function, thins the blood, and decreases triglycerides, was a great food for me, but I am spending my time crying because of the upscale changes that have taken place nowadays. These changes of the times are among the changes I least like to accept.

Gメニューの話。Gはグループ GroupのGからとった。私だけでそう呼ぶようになった。bloggerではもともとはLabelとかCategoryとか呼ばれているもの。各種の記事のうちの何に当てはまるのかを示すラベル付け、カテゴリー分けだが、これをメニューの観点から見ると、その記事が入る仲間を示している。

The G is taken from the G of 'Group.' In blogger, it was originally called Label or Category. It is a labeling or categorization that shows what articles fall into each category, and in terms of the menu, it shows the group that the article belongs to.


たとえば『クールな名言』ならば、プレミアム版と日本語版の他2つと並び立つ本体のほかに、ホーム画面に置かれることの多いカバー記事やインデックスだけの付録みたいなものもある。そうした同一グループに入るものがいっしょにホーム画面に並ぶならば、それは付加価値のあるメニューにもなる。

For example, in the case of "Cool Quotes," it stands alongside the other two, the premium edition and the Japanese edition. There is moreover the cover article that is often placed on the home screen, as well as an index-like appendix article. If all of these items in the same group are lined up together on the home screen, it can be a value-added menu.


このメニューを利用すると、単なるメニューより全体的な見通しが良くなるため、メニューとして一定程度価値がある。

This menu is of a certain degree of value as a menu because it provides a better overall outlook than a mere menu.

かくして、Gも、私の趣味のメニューの仲間に入り、さらに最近独り立ちしてトップメニューにまで出世した。

Thus, G has also joined my hobby menus, and more recently has risen to the top menu on its own.
