So - there are a number of areas when it comes to experts(^^;)
☆命令文＋and you'll do ＝ If you do, you'll do 命令文にandやorをつけるとifの意味になる。
Adding and/or to an imperative sentence makes it mean if.
☆注釈をつけるためにカッコが使われている。ダッシュがよく使われるが、マイナーな注釈や私的な注釈にはカッコを使うことが多いようだ。
Parentheses are used for annotation. Though dashes are often used, parentheses are also used for minor or private annotations.
☆went to Harvard「ハーバード大学出身」 HarvardmanとかHarvard-educatedとかいう言い方もある。if one is from Harvard はNG。
Harvardman and Harvard-educated are other ways of saying so. if one is from Harvard is NG.

Seriously? (^^; It's a bit of a pity, but this kind of thing seems to be a common story, even now.

☆a form of employment「雇用形態」
雇用形態はふつうには正社員とか派遣社員とかアルバイトとかいろいろある雇用の形態のこと。ここではしかし、学者と学者の雇用先の関係をformという語で表しており、学者は企業の働き手としてはあまり歓迎されないにしても、経済学者の勤め先には経済学があるじゃないか、経済学は経済学者のりっぱな勤め先だよというようなことを言っている。皮肉。
Employment status usually refers to various forms of employment, such as full-time, temporary, or part-time. Here, however, the word "form" is used to describe the relationship between the scholar and the scholar's employer, as if to say that even though the scholar is not a very welcome corporate worker, economics is where the economists work well. Irony.
