意
日本語の「意」は多くはmindを意味する。
In Japanese, the word
意 often means
mind.
意[i]
心の中の考えや思い
thoughts and feelings in your mind
ただし、単独の1文字で使うことはあまりなく、
中国語由来の漢字2字の熟語の名詞としてよく使う。
However, it is rarely used as a single character word;
it is more commonly used as a two-character noun derived from Chinese.
たとえば
For example
意見[iken]は
your belief、つまり
opinionのこと
意思[ishi]は
your mind you have made up、つまり
decisionのことを言う。
意識[ishiki]は
your recognition that your thoughts exist in your mind、つまり
consciousnessのこと
意[i]は
2字の漢字語句の2文字めにくることもある
can also appear as the second character in a two-character kanji phrase
たとえば
注意[chu:i]は
心の中の考えや思いを対象に注ぐこと
means focusing one’s thoughts and feelings on a specific object、つまり
attentionのこと
用意[yo:i] preparation
決意[ketsui] determination
合意[go:i] agreement
同意[do:i] agreement
熱意[netsui] enthusiasm
好意[ko:i] friendliness
悪意[akui] ill will
上5つは「する」をつけると動詞になるが、下3つはそうすることはできない。
The top five become verbs when you add
-suru, but the bottom three cannot be turned into verbs that way.
◎注意する[chu:i-suru] be careful
◎用意する[yo:i-suru] prepare
◎決意する[ketsui-suru] determine
◎合意する[go:i-suru] agree
◎同意する[do:i-suru] agree
❌熱意する
❌好意する
❌悪意する
これは2字熟語の1字めによって決まる。
This is determined by the first character of the two-character compound.
◎グループ:1字めはもともと動詞的
The first character is originally a verb;
注ぐ[sosogu]
用いる[mochiiru]
決める[kimeru]
合わせる[awaseru]
同じくする[onajikusuru]
❌グループ:1字めはもともと形容詞的
The first character is originally an adjective.
熱い[atsui]
好き[suki]
悪い[warui]
という違いがある。
There is such difference.
熱いmindは、することはできないが、持つことはできる。
You cannot do 熱意, but you can have it.
だから、
❌熱意する、
◎have enthusiasm 熱意を持つ、熱意を抱くはOK。
So,
you cannot say 熱意する[netsui-suru],
but you can say 熱意
を持つ[netsui-wo motsu], or 熱意
を抱く[netsui-wo idaku].
------------------
「熱意を持ってなにかする」
[netsui-wo motte nanika suru]
have enthusiasm for doing something
これはこうとも言える。
This can be said as:
「熱心になにかする」
[nesshin-ni nanika suru]
do something enthusiastically
つまり
That is to say:
熱意は熱心の親戚である。
Netsui is a relative to
nesshin.
意は
心の親戚である。
I is a relative to
shin.
英語では
In English
意はmind
心はheart
両者は連携して働く。
They work together.
